It’s been two years since we have been hit by a pandemic. Our lives have changed in many ways and every reader would agree when I say there has been a decline in visits to conventional libraries and bookstores. Digitization is one of the hottest trends across industries and we can see that in library management too. With the flexibility of including a wide variety of content, online libraries are the IT thing now. Since the consumption of digital format has increased rapidly, many authors consider publishing ebooks even though physical books are still popular. And at Blogchatter Ebook Library, we have free access to some amazing books.

If you have been following me on bookstagram at ReadingWithMuffy, you’d know that I own a beautiful rainbow library that has over 1000 physical books in it. If it is up to me, I’d be the librarian of a ginormous library, any day.

But I lose my sleep thinking about how I am going to carry them all again when we move out in another couple of months. I regrettably cannot take them all with me mostly because my soldier would be moving around the country every two-three years and my library is only going to increase in volume every passing day. I also do not have the heart to see them getting destroyed by rains, dust, or even termites solely because the books will be left in black boxes in some shelter until we get a permanent home which has got a waiting period of at least six months in every posting.
Hence, though it is traumatic to me, I’d be saying good-bye to my dear dear books at my parents.
It’s during tough times like these that I see how wonderful it is to build an online library.

I’ve read two. Both poetry books and liked them a lot 🙂
It’s indeed disheartening to leave your dearest books when you shift homes. When we shifted to Cape Town from Grahamstown once we retired, we had no option but to donate a box full of books to the local library. Then I resorted to eBook purchases.
I have downloaded two eBooks and haven’t finished them. Thank you for the reminder. 🙂
I did not know about the eBooks library at Blogchatter, regrettably. Thanks, Shalini for this ‘news’ to me.
I do understand your pain of parting with books. I have been living a nomadic life, but a ‘civilian’ one for about 22 years now. With the change in city, country or continent every 5 to 6 years, I have endured the pain of letting go of my books. Either I donate the books to the local library or hand them over to some bookworms who might find it worth keeping them. I retain 100 odd books though after bargaining for it with my better half.
I joined Blogchatter a month back and got to know one more thing today. Thank you! Also shifting books is a fear I have not yet experienced but really scared!
