Today I wanted to try out something different. I did a read-aloud on my Bookstagram of one of my favorite books- Dad By My Side which is written and illustrated by Soosh.
The author is an Instagram sensation and she has illustrated the beautiful bond of father and daughter in this book. The cover sets the tone of the book- a beefy, larger-than-life dad with his teeny tiny daughter lounging on his back.
The text and illustrations go hand in hand and they are so heartwarming that you’ll go Aww in no time. It’s comforting, pleasing, moving, and heartening in so many ways.
The author has portrayed the father-daughter relationship in all the little everyday things that they do – they cook, cuddle, sew, play games, and do hula hoop. He does her hair, talks to her even when he is away from home, sings lullaby every night, tells stories, and also measure her height against a wall.
This book is my go-to whenever I feel blue!
