You scream your lungs out when I play with fire, Mom
What you do not know is, I was plucking ‘that flower’ to give it to you.
You throw your hands up in the air when you find my little treasures between the cushions of your favorite sofa, Mom
What you do not know is, I wanted our ‘other inmates’ also to get the taste of your yummy food.
You scream ‘Holy Mother of God, Aiyo’ and the likes when you see me crawling up the stairs, Mom
What you do not know is, I want you to believe ‘Darr ke aage jeet Hein’, like I do.
You yell and wail when I let my hair down and rejoice in my bathtub, spilling the water on you, Mom
What you do not know is, I’m as clean as a button as you change my diapers, cleanse and deodorize me every other hour.
I can go on and on, Mom
But I know that at the end of the day, my smile fades your worry away.
