Title: His Drunken Wife
Author: Sundari Venkataraman
No: of Pages:101
Genre: Fiction/Romance Novella
Blurb:
The badass Shikha is startled when the nerdy Abhimanyu proposes marriage. She loves… herself, and Abhimanyu doesn’t figure on her list anywhere. For Abhimanyu, however, it was love at first sight when Shikha walked into RS Software, where the two of them work.
When Abhimanyu shows her that he just might be rich enough for her, a pleasantly surprised Shikha accepts his marriage proposal and moves into his swanky apartment.
But it looks like the love is all from only Abhi’s side as Shikha continues to drink herself crazy. Yeah, even at their wedding party.
And then Abhi sets out on a honeymoon to Thailand with his drunken wife…
Review:
His Drunken Wife is the second book of Marriages Made in India series, the first one being The Smitten Husband. (You can read the review here) While Smitten Husband was about a typical arranged marriage in India and on how love blossoms in the hearts of the couple, His Drunken Wife is more bold and dramatic. You cannot find a nice and sweet heroine here, for Shikha is sizzling hot.
Shikha is an alcohol addict, hot-headed and skittish. She is appalled when the staid and boring Abhimanyu proposes her for marriage but is amazed when she finds out that he is indeed affluent. She accepts his proposal and moves in to his posh penthouse. It doesn’t take much time for Shikha to find Abhimanyu attractive and handsome. She is pulled into his riveting charisma but defies the attraction and goes about with what she is good at – drinking crazy. How will Abhimanyu put up with Shikha’s alcohol addiction? Will he be able to help her out?
As Abhimanyu plans for a honeymoon to Thailand with his drunken wife, the readers are in for a sweltering ride.
I was put off by Shikha from the very beginning but instantly warmed up to our confident and charming hero Abhimanyu. These two are poles apart. But as the say, opposites attract and that spices up the story. When you find out the reasons for her alcoholism, the story feels plausible. This novella is different from the author’s other works especially since the heat scale hits a high.
The language and writing is awesome s always and I liked the story.
Do I Recommend? Yup- For it is like biting into red hot chilli peppers!
Rating: 4 on 5 from me.

Hi Shalini, sorry that I got here after so long. Had not been in town and commenting from my phone can be frustrating at times. 😛
I am so thrilled to read your review and I am glad you liked my book. Yeah, Shikha is badass as I had mentioned in the blurb. She insisted on her story being told. As I mentioned at the beginning of the story, “he was cool and collected while she was brash and loud”. I see that you noted how different they are 😀
Thank you! <3
And it's wonderful to see such encouraging comments here on your blog too
