**I purchased this book with my own money. There was no obligation to post/give this book a certain rating.
Teddy Crutcher has won Teacher of the Year at the esteemed Belmont Academy, home to the best and brightest.
He says his wife couldn’t be more proud—though no one has seen her in a while.
Teddy really can’t be bothered with the death of a school parent that’s looking more and more like murder or the student digging a little too deep into Teddy’s personal life. His main focus is on pushing these kids to their full academic potential.
All he wants is for his colleagues—and the endlessly meddlesome parents—to stay out of his way.
It’s really too bad that sometimes excellence can come at such a high cost.
Whenever I feel the urge to read I always pick up a whodunnit murder mystery and given that I’d loved reading Samatha Downing’s previous work, ‘My Lovely Wife’, I believed this book wouldn’t disappoint me either.
🔥🔥🔥“Entitlement has a particular stench. Pungent, bitter. Almost brutal.”
I was in a reading slump that lasted almost a year. It was hard to finally pick up a book to read and that alone is surprising to even myself. But then, I knew I needed some distraction because the real world was badly screwing with me. I am glad I picked up For Your Own Good because there is no looking back now. I’ve read four books in ten days and I have only begun.
Set in a posh and elite prep school, Belmont Academy, Teddy Crutcher is the Teacher of the Year who believes that he should mold and shape every student to meet the Ivy league standards the school aims for and not become the smug, spoiled, and entitled brats of today. The problem is that he is willing to go to any extent to achieve his mission because he strongly believes that it is all for the greater good. Of course, a murder or two doesn’t stop him while putting someone in place.
🔥🔥🔥”If the world wasn’t filled with so many incompetent people, Teddy would have so much more time to concentrate on the important things. Like teaching.“
Among these is Zach Ward, a star student, unfortunately from a rich and influential family, who is under Teddy’s radar. Teddy has it out for him assigning impossible deadlines, and screwing his grades that hurt his GPA. When people start dying one after the other at the Belmont Academy, first a parent, then teachers and students, the school’s sparkling reputation goes into gutter.
Told in multiple PoVs, the reader may feel slightly overwhelmed but only in the beginning. It is easy to keep track of who’s who and what and the secondary characters add life to the story. Each had unique voices and good character development.
There are plenty of surprises, twists, and turns for the reader and it will keep you hooked from the get-go. I love a good mystery and I keep trying to figure out the plot as and when I read. But I was taken aback by the many odd turn of events and not just for the sake of having a twist, which was interesting.
