A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder #BookReview {Sep Check-In} #ReadingWithMuffy

Finally after months of experiencing a harrowing reading rut, I finally got around reading five books in September. Full credits should be given to this reading challenge because I love crime fiction and thriller and picking my favorite genre helped me read a handful of books.

The first book I picked up in September was A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson. Read on to find out if I liked reading it?

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson – Book Review

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson is a simple small-town murder mystery where the protagonist is a teenager – Pippa Fitz Amobi who investigates a closed case of murder for her senior year project. Andie Bell, her senior at school was allegedly murdered by Sally Singh, Andie’s boyfriend.

Pippa teams up with the alleged murderer’s brother to plot, dig and get to the bottom of the truth to prove Sal’s innocence. As the list of Person of Interest gets longer, they find themselves in deep trouble.

The writing is gripping which makes the book unputdownable. I finished it overnight and that’s something because I was on a reading rut.

That said, it gives more of a Nancy Drew-Hardy Boys vibe, mainly because the plot is around teenagers. And yes, it is clearly mentioned on Amazon that the book is for age 14 and up.

I should also give you trigger warnings of drugs, rape, and bullying too.

What makes the story interesting for me is its execution. It was fun visualizing the whole thing in my head and I wouldn’t be surprised if the book gets picked up for a Netflix series.

Oh, I heard the author plans 3 more books as sequels. And the second book – Good Girl, Bad Blood is already out and I have gotten a copy of it. So, do expect another review soon.

🐾🐾🐾.8/5 (3.8 Paws on 5) and that’s only because I am way past the teenage phase. πŸ™†β€β™€οΈ But it shouldn’t stop you from picking up the book.

I’m lagging behind on announcing the winners of the previous months’ challenges. I’ll be doing that on my Instagram stories on the 11th of October, Sunday. Stay tuned!
