Its been long since I have made something with Prawns. Reminiscing those times before wedding, when I would ask my Dad to get me Prawns, and he would soon get it and even cook it for me… Wow, those days!!
Though Kerala is known for its Sea-food, prawns are rather costly there-Oh, I’m just saying!!

Prawns- 300 gms
Chopped onion – 3
Chopped tomatoes- 2
Ginger-Garlic paste- 1 tbsp
Chilli powder- 2 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
Black cardamoms- 2
Cinnamon- 1″ stick
Bay leaf 1
Salt- to taste
Oil as required
Prawns should be marinated with 1 tsp chilli powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and salt and keep aside for at least 15 minutes.
Now, heat oil in a pan shallow fry the prawns for couple of minutes and remove.
Heat 2 tablespoons of the same oil in a pan and add the bay leaf, green and black cardamoms, cloves and cinnamon. When they begin to splutter, add the chopped onions and saute till golden brown. Add the ginger- garlic pastes and cook till the raw smell goes.
Add the remaining chilli powder and turmeric powder and saute for a minute.
Add the chopped tomatoes and cook till oil separates. To this, add the fried prawns and mix well.
Cook for a couple of minutes. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with Rice or Roti.
