Dal Curry

A must-have in all North Indian Meals, Dal curry can be made with all the types of Dals.

I had made this countless times, but have always got it wrong. Finally with the help of my maid, I am mastering the art of Dal cooking.

Dal

Ingredients:

Masoor Dal – 2 handfull

Water – 3cups

OIl

Onion – 1

Tomato – 1

Jeera – 1tsp

Turmeric powder – 1/2tsp

Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp

Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp

Sambar powder – 1/4 tsp

Green Chillies -2

Salt

Mustard

Coriander leaves

Method:

In a pressure cooker, add oil and Jeera.

Add onion and saute till brown. Add ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and sambar powder.

Add green chillies.

Add dal, mix well with a little salt and pressure cook to two whistles.

Remove from fire. When the steam is settled, open lid and mash the dal well.

In a pan, add little oil and splutter mustard. Add this to the Dal and garnish with coriander.
