Review:
“Metro Diaries 2” by is a collection of 20 stories, many of which portraying the heart-wrenching bitter truths of life. They help us to ponder over betrayal, grief, longing and also the glee and wonder in love, friendship, or any other relationship. They are realistic and strikes a chord with anyone who reads it. They show the different shades of life – not only drab and grey, but also of hope and cheer.
Here is a jist of few of the stories which I loved and my thoughts.
The book begins with the story Charlatan. It is about how an honest and compassionate woman finds out about her cheating husband and deciding to retaliate in her own terms. Other than a striking plot and complexities of human mind, I also loved the descriptions of the beautiful state of Kerala.
The author had been successful in penning down a beautiful tale of a transgender through Magpie of Memories. There was clear distinction of Cara’s emotions and feelings and it seemed like a piece of cake for the author. That indeed is worth mentioning.
Stain of Love was a fascinating read for, in the end I realized we do get worked up for the silliest of things where the very misunderstandings could be easily fixed by a simple talk.
“When you love someone you want to control everything that person does and hence, sometimes, knowingly or unknowingly you squash them like melons. While on the other hand in the case of hate, there is no need to specify the reason for walking over someone like that. Hate is a strong reason in itself!”
That’s a beautiful line from the story The Filch. Need I say more? It teaches us that the worst betrayal often comes from the person who we confide in the most.
While The Cursed Existence and The Last Kiss are some dark tales, The Epoch and The Keepsake reinforce the need of compassion and humanity.
Applause to the author for putting together some powerful stories which leaves you ponder over the realities of life. I loved the narration and writing style barring few grammatical errors. I hope the author comes up with another edition soon.

My Writing Workshop says
The language is simple, flows effortlessly and does help to produce the intended image in the mind of the reader. However, there are a few stories which, I think, could have been given more space to build up the characters and to make the plot plausible enough. Moreover, there are repetitive themes.
