A thought came to my mind last night, while travelling back from work. Yeah, don’t ‘Whoa’ me. I know it was a Saturday and I was working till 11.30 PM. And for the record, I still am in office right now on a Sunday night. That was when I decided to pose a question to a few of my friends who are Army Wives.
If given a chance to be an Army Wife again in your next birth, would you choose to accept it?
While Lakshmi said, “Yes. Undoubtedly, yes”, Avantika added a little something to it, “Besides being a wife, I wouldn’t mind working in the Army too!”
“Yes, of course. I will. It’s an honor and I love the Army”, says Inderpreet.
Lilly, a very dear friend had something more to say. In her own words, “Yes, Would love to answer this question again and again and again. My answer will be yes! Definitely! No two ways about it! I am proud to be an Army Wife and after being married to a Defense personal, I feel more patriotic and more concerned towards our country. I somehow feel we are different from others.Take for instance, I get goosebumps and get all choked up when reciting our National Anthem. I make it a point to sing out loud. We simply cannot keep standing without singing. But I have hardly seen others doing the same. What more, if it’s a movie theater, they just walk around with their popcorn, finding their seats. I might be wrong. But yes, I love being an Army Wife!”
We know what we go through once we sign up for this task as an Army Wife. The agony of separation, the fear, the responsibilities are part and parcel of our lives. But do we ever think twice? Do we think we had made a mistake by marrying an Officer?
I wouldn’t take even a second to answer that. No. Army was, is and will be my life!
Being an Army Officer’s daughter, the only thing I asked of my father was to get me married only to an Army Officer. You can read about it here. If you do, you are in for a treat. 🙂
Today, I would request you all to please take two minutes of your time to watch this video. I know, I might be asking a little too much. But please do. I assure you, your heart would be swollen with pride, you might choke down a sob, but I guess you would appreciate the lives we live. We do not need sympathy. We are too proud and dignified for that.
So tell me, If given a chance to be an Army Wife again in your next birth, would you choose to accept it? If given a chance to be an Armed Forces Officer, would you?
I am Married to the Olive Green and I’m writing about the 26 things which I get to do/experience that you as a Civilian wife do not!
I hope you come back again tomorrow!

Sorry, I missed reading your post yesterday 🙁
After reading your posts in this series, I would love to be an army wife in this birth, as well as the next. <3
I've always had this dream of joining the secret service. All because of some online game I used to play when I was a kiddo. So, will I be called an army wife if I'm in the secret service? Or will my hubby be called an army husband? 😀
Soumya Prasad says
If I haven’t said it already, I really am proud of you army wives!
